For Hong Kong actress Kate Tsui, a successful career is not too much to forgo in exchange for a blissful matrimony.
Last Friday, Kate Tsui, together with fellow TVB actor Wayne Li and actress Natalie Tong, was in town for a media session ahead of the Starhub TVB Awards Ceremony on Saturday.
The 32-year-old worked her way to stardom ever since being crowned Miss Hong Kong in 2004 and coming in 5th for Miss Chinese International in 2005.
With her first appearance in When Rules Turn Loose as a psychologist in 2005, Kate has starred in almost 20 drama series and nine movies to date.
Having worked with various charismatic actors like Ron Ng, Moses Chan, Alex Fung, Raymond Wong and Kenneth Ma, who matches her criteria for Mr Right?
The actress readily shared, "I like Alex Fung the most. He is a mature and handsome guy, with such a good sense of humour. Furthermore, he is a family man who loves his family, which I believe is hard to come by. He is the Mr. Right material!"
So, has Kate's ideal Mr. Right appeared in her life?
"Not yet! If I've found such a guy, I wouldn't be an actress anymore! If I were to marry in future, I would most probably say goodbye to my career in showbiz."
Wouldn't it be a pity to give up her successful career then?
"Different people have got different values, and to me, family is my number one. Take my career as an actress for example. Apart from my passion for acting, my career allows me to provide my family with a stable life."
"For now, my parents are of utmost importance, and when I meet my Mr. Right and get married, Mr. Right, together with my family, will become my number 1.1!"
Kate carried on saying that it has never crossed her mind as to when she wants to get married, but she is ready to give up her career any time, despite the fact that she would hate to part with the showbiz.
While most women based their blissfulness on the romantic moments and surprises their other half gives, Kate has a different definition of happiness.
"Happiness is not all about romantic actions and surprises. There have been too much of these in the shows that I've participated, so much so that it becomes difficult for me to find any guy who can wow me with his surprises in reality."
"Things get tougher when fans of these days are amazing me with their handmade or made-to-order gifts. It will be almost impossible to have my wooers surpass my fans."
"So, I would hope for my Mr. Right to be a few years older than me, so that he can provide me with new information and knowledge daily, and also hold a different view from mine. I would be happier this way, and every day would be a refreshing one for us."
Recently, there have been news of Kate's sister wanting to match-make her, and Kate confirmed the news at the media session.
She explained that her mom is starting to worry for her, especially when her sister is already married with two kids.
Kate revealed that her sister, who is also worried that Kate may be left on the shelf, has been emailing Kate the profiles of some guys, hoping to hook her up with some blind dates.
However, Kate expressed that she has nothing against matchmaking and is planning to meet some of those guys that her sister introduced. She hopes to make use of this opportunity to meet new friends.While Kate is all ready to welcome a relationship or marriage at any point in time, TVB actress Natalie Tong on the other hand is enjoying singlehood.
When asked about their date and if there is any possibility of them reconciling, Natalie smiled and said that for them to be friends again is an important step forward for their relationship.
She expressed that it would be difficult for them to get back together again and it would be the best for both parties if they were to remain as friends.
Natalie has remained single ever since her breakup with Amigo in 2008, which was believed to be due to the presence of a third party.
So, how are things like for Natalie's love life?
In response to this, Natalie laughed and shared that while she enjoys her every bit of freedom, she is happy with staying single and making full use of her time to pick up drawing and martial arts.
Being a lady who is optimistic about everything in life, Natalie says that she is not in a hurry to go into a relationship and believes that the right man will come when the time is right.
