Yesterday, TVB’s Production and Resource Director, Virginia Lok (樂易玲) denied giving up Wong Hei and even professed that because Wong Hei had accepted a mainland drama and will be start working on it at the end of August, he was unable to pore over the matter of renewing his contract with TVB as yet.
Virginia explained, “Even before Wong Hei’s contract was full, we have already returned him his appearance fees (usually after TVB has deducted their portion of commission from it) and Wong Hei was very nice. Initially the Hong Kong Back Then <香港演義> program was scheduled to be only three episodes long. Since three episodes weren’t enough, we extended it and added more episodes. Wong Hei didn’t complain and completed all ten episodes. Actually, regarding Wong Hei’s contract, we had an internal meeting to assess it.Catherine Tsang (曾勵珍) and Tommy Leung (梁家樹) were present at that meeting too. Everyone agreed that if it were suitable, we will seek him again. So in what way is Wong Hei a ‘deposed general?’”
Yesterday when Wong Hei responded to reporters, he had another form of reply and an obvious implication in his tone, “Hearing Mrs. Chen [Virginia Lok's husband's (陳君毅) surname was Chen] say this, I’m extremely moved. A huge thanks to Mrs. Chen for sending her blessings behind my back.”
In other news, TVB’s External Affairs’ Deputy Director, Tsang Sing Ming (曾醒明) re-emphasized and clarified that they didn’t chase Wong Hei out of TVB and said that he will go over to Artist Department to understand whether there was any misunderstanding during communication.
